Paul Newman Dies

I've just heard the bad news, Paul Newman passed away. I can't believe it. His wonderful lemonade was really good. He was a very talented actor and innovative gourmet cook, I've enjoyed his line of delicious products. He will be missed. But, his great recipes, esp. the popcorn, will be with us for good.

Cho Seung Hui-Was it Lack of Love or Nurture??

It has been nearly 18 months since the VTech school shooting massacre. A South Korean immigrant named Cho Seung Hui gunned down and killed 32 innocent VTech students and personnel before firing the gun on himself, bringing the death toll to 33. Was he insane? Was he neglected? Unloved? Or was he a perfectly aware cold blooded killer who taped a video manifesto after the mass slaying and sent it off to NBC? Well, to me he sounds as though he was a notoriety seeker. Perhaps an angry young man who grew tired of taking abuse from his peers all throughout grade school right on up through college. Maybe his family was cold and unavailable, working 16-20 hours a day in their dry-cleaning business. Cho has a sister who is a Princeton University graduate and who is employed with the Dept. of Homeland Security. Why didn't she go on a wild killing rampage? Cho was born with a host of personal deficits, no doubt. He was diagnosed as having Asperger's Autism back when he was in middle school. We may never know the truth about him. For the victims of the VTech tragedy need time to heal from such a sad affair.

Former US Senator as a visiting fellow

My former US Senator Lincoln D. Chafee is pictured here (on the right) with a world renowned polo player. He is now a visiting fellow at the Watson Institute for International Studies at Brown University. Wish him well!! Also his new book, Against the Tide, is a great read, very entertaining and intriguing. Get it.

Autumn and The Canadian Maritimes

Oh, the marvals of nature. Fall is here and the southeastern section of Canada is indeed the place to go, Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland. There you will find a vast array of animal life, whales, puffins, penguins, black bears, otters, moose, wolves and bald eagles. High surf, pounding against a rocky cliff. Vacations to consider, the Canadian Maritimes!!

Asperger's Syndrome

When a child exhibits signs of delayed speech, most parents tend to get alarmed. So they take him/her to the pediatrician and he confirms that the boy or girl has Asperger's Autism. Devastating! However, many shy but intelligent people have been labeled autistic or perhaps worst, childhood schizophrenia. Childhood schizophrenia is not to be confused with Asperger's. Asperger's is more along the lines of selective mutism and high-functioning autism. In fact, that is just what Asperger's is high functioning autism. There are so many terms today that years ago were never ever mentioned. In the wake of the Virginia Tech shootings, and the shooter Cho Seung Hui, having been diagnosed with Asperger's, more information about it has been disclosed everywhere on the internet, only within the the last year and one half. More on this subject later...
